Tiptree is a (mad) doctor of genetic research, working for the Eunice Corporation. Feeling that Earth was made to the dinosaurs' scale, and seeing us humans as only messy little ants who are harming the Earth with our toxic ways, she has created dinosaurs from chicken DNA as well as a disease that acts as a fever, but causes women to give birth to dinosaur eggs (yes, you did read that correctly!). Like all mad scientists, when the FDA won't give her approval for human testing of this deadly pathogen, she decides to infect herself with the disease.

She meets E.E. 'Doc' Smith when he masquerades as an employee and holds her at gunpoint to tell him what's going on. It's also here where Doc (and the audience) sees what the aftermath of the birth is: the woman dies in a very painful, gruesome way, forewarning the audience that the human race would soon become extinct if this disease spreads.

Doc manages to get the raw viral serum to formulate an anti-toxin, leaving her alone in her office, when she starts to go into labour. Spreading a blanket on the ground, she gives birth on her own, only this is no ordinary birth: instead of looking like Winona Ryder's "ping-pong ball trick" in the South park movie (only with deadly, oversized eggs), this egg starts to pop through her stomach, a la Alien. Tiptree, is in agony but like all mothers is proud of her achievement, and she gives one final, satisfied look at her "child" before she expires.
