Nurse Allen is one of the nine doctors who performed fatal surgery on Victoria Phibes thus making her a target of her husband, Anton Phibes' "nine eternities in DOOM" list. Having seen several of the doctors die, Inspector Trout, one of the film's main protagonists, has worked out how they are being killed and the reason they are being killed, and so he is now responsible for keeping the few remaining doctors safe.

Trout finds Allen in a hospital and orders her to remain in her room, until they catch Phibes. She is understandably worried and takes a sleeping pill to help her relax and get to sleep. Unfortunately for Allen though, Phibes is also in the hospital building, in a conveniently empty room directly above hers.

Phibes unrolls a template of a woman's body, laying it on the floor in order work out where nurse Allen is sleeping. The detail of adding nipples onto this template is completely unnecessary, but does serve to titillate the audience. Now the template is on the floor, Phibes carefully drills a hole above the unlucky nurse. I say carefully, but he ends up covering nurse Allen in so many wood shavings it is a wonder that she did not die of suffocation!!

I admire attention to detail, but were the nipples really a necessary addition?

Having successfully drilled a hole directly above Nurse Allen's head, Phibes then sticks a tube through the hole and begins to drip a sticky green syrup on top of Allen, which eventually completely covers her face in a think layer of goo.


Now that is what i call a runny nose!!

It should be noted that in an earlier scene we see Phibes loading a small harvest of brussel sprouts into an industrial sized juicer, so we can work out that what Phibes is dripping on to nurse Allen is the most 'abominable' liquid known to man - sprout juice.

However, this is not nearly enough suffering for Phibes's taste. Also, to the best of my knowledge, rivers running green with sprout juice was not one of the ten plagues of Egypt (although religious scholars are free to correct me if I am wrong), and so Phibes drops hundreds of completely disinterested locusts down a clear glass tube that land on nurse Allen and eat away at the deep-sleeping nurse's face, until there is nothing left but a skull.
