Godfrey Tibbett is an MI6 agent with a vast knowledge and experience in the field of horses. When Bond gets himself invited to a horse auction at Zorin's chateau, Tibbett goes with him posing as Bond's chauffeur/dogsbody.
Zorin (q.v.) discovers Bond's true identity though, and he arranges for both Tibbett and Bond to be killed. Predictably, Bond manages to escape to fight another day, but Tibbett is not so lucky. As he drives out of the chateau to get the car washed (and contact his handler), he does not realise that May Day (q.v.) has sneaked into the back of the car. As the car goes through the car wash, Tibbett is caught by surprise and strangled to death by May Day.

Not very clearly displayed, but the shadow of doom in the back of Godfrey's car is May Day

Godfrey's death will be avenged!
How dare they kill off Sir Godfrey! It's outrageous, he could have been a recurring character.
